Major Music Awards

Hey Hi! Do you know the awards given in the music industry? Before that, know the music awards and what it means. A music award is an award given for persons who distinguished themselves in music. There are different awards in different countries, and different awards may focus on or exclude certain music. For example, some music awards are only for classical music and do not include popular music. Some music awards are academic, some are commercial and created by the music industry.

About

The Big Three major music awards given each season are the American Music Awards (held in the Autumn), the Grammy Awards (held the week after the NFL’s Super Bowl), and the Billboard Music Awards (held in the Spring). The MTV Video Music Award (held in the Summer) considered, among other such award shows, a “mini-major”.

A fourth major award, the Rock-and-roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, will be in the spring (between the Grammy and the BMAs), and honours artists who have been in the business at least 25 years since their first hit record. Among other mini-major music awards are the Glenn Gould Prize, and Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Grammy Award

The Grammy Award is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry. The trophy depicts a gilded gramophone. The Grammy is the first and biggest award of the Big Three networks' major music awards held annually (between the American Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards).

They consider it one of the four major annual American Entertainment Awards, along with the Academy Awards (film), the Emmy Awards (television), and the Tony Awards (theatre and Broadway).

To honour and respect the musical accomplishments by performers for the year 1958, they held the very first Annual Grammy Awards. Following the 2011 ceremony, the Academy overhauled many Grammy Award categories for 2012.

They held the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

American Music Awards

The American Music Awards (AMAs) is an annual American music award show held in the autumn, for ABC when the network's contract to air the Grammy Awards expired. Until the 2005 edition, members of the music industry selected both the winners and the nominations, based on commercial performance, such as sales and airplay. Since the 2006 edition, winners get elected by a poll of the public and fans, who can vote through the AMAs website. The award statuette, manufactured by New York firm Society Awards.

World Music Awards

The World Music Awards is an international award show founded in 1989. They base the event in Monte Carlo. Awards presented to the world's best-selling artists in several categories and to the best-selling artists from each major territory. The most awarded artist in the history of the World Music Awards is Mariah Carey with 19 Awards.

The public voted nine awards for online.

The awards are gold-plated, each depicting an artist holding the world. The event was last held in 2014.

MTV Video Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards is an award show presented by the cable channel MTV to honour the best in the music video medium. Originally conceived as an alternative to the Grammy Awards (in the video category), the annual MTV Video Music Awards ceremony has often called the "Super Bowl for youth", an acknowledgement of the VMA ceremony's ability to draw millions of youth from teens to 20-something each year. By 2001, the VMA had become a coveted award. The statue given to winners is an astronaut on the moon, one of the earliest representations of MTV, and called a "moon man". New York firm Society Awards made the statue.  Since the 2006 ceremony, viewers can vote for their favourite videos in all general categories by visiting MTV's website.

Billboard Music Awards

The Billboard Music Awards are honours given out annually by Billboard, a publication and music popularity chart covering the music business. They held the Billboard Music Awards show annually since 1990, and it formerly held the event in December until it went dormant in 2006.

Unlike other awards, such as the Grammy Award, which determine nominations because of the highest votes received by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Billboard Music Awards finalists, based on album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring, and social engagement. They track these measurements year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. They base the 2018 awards on the reporting period of April 8, 2017, through March 31, 2018. They give awards for the top album, artist and single in several music genres.
