Jingle Bells

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way.

Oh! what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh!

Jingle Bells is one of the known and popularly sung American songs in the world penned by James Lord Pierpont and published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh". "Jingle Bells" was the first song broadcast from space in a Christmas-themed prank by Gemini 6 astronauts Tom Stafford and Wally Schirra.

Silent Night

Silent night! Holy night!

All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin mother and child!

Holy infant, so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace!

Sleep in heavenly peace!

Silent Night is a popular German Christmas carol song, composed in 1818 by Franz Xavier Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in Austria. "Stille Nacht" was first performed on Christmas Eve 1818 at St Nicholas Parish Church in Austria.

Joy To The World

Joy to the World; the Lord has come!

Let earth receive her King!

Let every heart prepare Him room,

And Heaven and nature sing!

The words of the hymn are by English writer Isaac Watts, based on Psalm 98, 96:11–12 and Genesis 3:17–18. The song was first published in Watts' collection (1917) The Psalms of David: Imitated in the language of the New Testament and applied to the Christian state and worship.

Watts' 1719 preface says the verse "... fitted to the Tunes of the Old PSALM-BOOK" and includes the instruction "sing all entitled COMMON METER". In the late 1700s "Joy to the World" printed together with music several times, however, the tunes did not resemble and not related to the one commonly used today.

White Christmas

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

Just like the ones I used to know

Where the treetops glisten

And children listen

To hear sleigh bells in the snow, the snow.

"White Christmas" is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting, released in 1942. The version sung by Bing Crosby is the world's best-selling single, with estimated sales of over 50 million copies worldwide. When the figures for other versions of the song added to Crosby's, sales of the song exceed 100 million.

Mary’s Boy Child

Mary's boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day

And man will live forevermore because of Christmas Day

Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible said

Mary's boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day

One of the best-known cover versions of the song is from the German-based disco-group Boney M from 1978, Mary’s Boy Child - Oh My Lord! This version returned the song to the top of the UK chart. It is one of the best-selling singles of all time in the UK and has sold 1.87 million copies as of November 2015. "Mary's Boy Child" is a 1956 Christmas song, written by Jester Hairston. It performed as a Christmas carol.
