London startup ROLI launched a new interactive exceptional keyboard called the LUMI. Roli brings industrial designers, sound designers, electrical designers and musicians working together. All these skills made new ways to make this LUMI smarter with the brightest keyboard ever.
Roli first came with the SEABOARD and then the next product was BLOCKS. Both these were somewhat similar to the pianos or other instruments, or with creating and playing electronic music with FX processors, synthesizers, and mixers. So Roli once again they reinvented once before, the illuminated keyboard LUMI with an app that let anyone be more musical in minutes.
About LUMI
The heart of the LUMI is the LUMI keys which have a full-colour illumination with Roli’s patented DNA connectors. This 8 DNA connector has a unique edge-to-edge design that allows you to attach multiple LUMIs together to create 48-72 keys or even a 96 keys keyboard. Once you put together two or more LUMIs you can’t figure it out where exactly it begins and ends.
You can even connect LUMI with their previous inventions like SEABOARD and BLOCKS. LUMI has 2 octaves with octave shift buttons for full 7 octaves. LUMI weighs just 600g which is less than an iPad. There is a feature of Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity which has a 15m range and USB-C port(MIDI out and power).
Key Features
LUMI has 24 full spectrum illuminated keys. The bright key technology feature making them the brightest RGB illuminated keyboard technology ever made. State-of-the-art ray trace analysis and a Fresnel Lens-inspired design were created by Roli which gives 10,800 millicandela of light in each key distributed from end to end. You just need a backpack to fit LUMI.
The plunge depth of these keys is 10mm which matches 92% of a plunge in a grand piano. LUMI is very light, of about 27mm slim type. The special feature is the DS 5.5 key size which is ⅞ of the standard piano key. You can play this for nearly 6 hours continuously which gives a long battery usage with 17 hours on energy-saving mode. This key size is specifically designed for amateur to pro.
LUMI Music App Compatibility
The keyboard is one part of the LUMI system. This merges hardware, software and contents into a single system that can play, jam or learns with a keyboard. This LUMI Music App guides you in a step by step learning. The different modes in the app will be replicated on the LUMI keys that allow you to decide how to play, learn, practice or watch, jam.
The app follows your speed accordingly, it pauses and plays for your comfort. LUMI keys work in Roli’s professional software like Roli Studio Player, GarageBand and LogicPro. App has 100+ songs from classic to the pop hits that make you follow the lights on the keyboard and colours to play. It also has 40+ lessons to guide you to learn the scales, chords and playing technique.
